Weekend War

Tell him the liberator who destroyed my property has re-aligned my paradigm of perception.

Large Naked Man with Gun #1

I was looking at the Folsom Street Fair site today to check if we maybe wanted to vend there.  Kudos to them but they don't limit their advertisers from showing anything.  Large naked men, indeed.

On a side note, the part that worries me about this drawing is the indication that it may be a series.

The Red Concentric

Is it the humanish condition or a d3 deficiency?  He thinks the clouds may conspire above his head.  He overheard them.

Internal Borders

Let's call it an experiment early 80's figurative pop expressionism via a copic airbrush tool.

Clawed End

In fairness, I had been warned.  Though I'm unsure whether or not I'd wished she had been more blunt.

Tube Feeding

It's more efficient, surely; far more quick than traditional preparation of consumption.  Not to mention the better distribution of alternative proteins and vitamin/mineral bases through the body.  But sometimes, as the taste of fortified nutrient complexes flitted across her taste buds from the wrong direction, she missed peanut butter.

The Height of Deco Survival

All she wanted to be was a dancer.  Now she'd settle for sterile bandages and a small supply of canned peas.

Naked Apocalypse

Honestly, if you were last person alive, how long do you think it would be before you gave up on wearing clothes all together?  Granted, first few weeks would be a shopping spree, with styles ranging from head to toe Gaultier to the best armageddon soldier I can be.  But after months of searching for other survivors to no avail, I would soon wonder why I needed to look so rad.  I give it a year before I start really letting myself go and wearing all flannel.  I'd probably migrate someplace warm, San Diego's nice, but it gets hot, and flannel gets clingy.  I'm sure my first nude foraging foray is exactly when I'd finally find the remants of humanity, but I think that kind of sets the terms for our relationship.  I'll be the naked one.  And if they happen to be naked as well, then I'll know they're my kind of people.

The Lack of Nerve Endings in the Brain

This drawing is the amalgam of two memories; I shaved a blue-haired girls head with a pair of scissors in the dark when I was 19 years old and my father's death from Glioblastoma.  They have no correlation.  It's a workaround to process one memory by padding it with another.  I'm sure it's a bad idea, but at least it's an idea.

Great Hymn to the Aten

When I was a kid I was fascinated by Ahkenaten and Nefertiti.  The idea of a high leader attempting to alter the way an entire nation thought and felt was astounding.  Considering the vast amounts of power pharoahs were alloted I was was shocked that he was the only one to try.  There was a, practically arbitrary, shift in religion and art.  New god, new style.  I was always curious if it was an attempt to enlighten the masses or simply fascist megalomania or a semi-psychotic break.  If you were granted the power to dismantle westernized christianity and give graffiti it's come-ups, could you resist?

The Wine We Drink Will Rust Our Bellies

I do wonder if it will be worth the cirrhosis.  Just like I wonder if it was worth the schizophrenia.  I suppose these are questions better asked in my old age, and better answered in my youth.

Explosm

I'd like to introduce you to my new favorite word.  Explosm.

Also, if anyone can tell me why explosions are so rad, I'd really like to know.

Departures From Pacifism

I sometimes worry about the what's deeper in my head my head when I get sleepy.  It seems violent killer types like to reside there.

SMASH Prequel

Why yes, thank you, Sir.  I would indeed like to partake of some randomized chronology.

Hello, Sir.  Would you care for some randomized chronology?

The Bones Still Breathing

I've often heard that going peacefully in your sleep is the best way to leave this world.  I can't agree.  To live a life and not have those last few seconds to, if nothing else, reflect, seems like rip-off.  For that matter, how about a fighting chance.  I think cowardly best describes someone who'd take a life while they were sleeping.  I'd hope my reaper has a little more brass.  At least play a game a chess to determine if he gets me, if not a fist fight.  In Doctor Who it was said that it wasn't accepting your own mortality that defined being human, but fighting for survival and refusing to die.  And while I'd like to think I've come to terms with my finite time on a buddhist level, you better believe I'll take a bat to the first robe wearing skeleton I see.

On Your Mark, Get Set...

go.

I have very little interest in hotrod racing.  The driving off a cliff part does sound very appealing though.

My Personal Brass Monkey

Step up to the bar - put the girl down
She takes a big gulp and slaps it around
Take a sip - you can do it - you get right to it
We had a case in the place and we went right through it
You got a dry Martini - thinking you're cool
I'll take your place at the bar - I smack you off your stool
I'll down a '40 dog" in a single gulp
And if you got beef you'll get beat to a pulp
Monkey and parties and reelin' and rockin'
Def, def - girls, girls - all y'all jockin'
The song and dance keeping you in a trance
If you don't buy my record I got my advance
I drink it - I think it - I see it - I be it
I love Brass Monkey but I won't give D. it
We got the bottle - you got the cup
Come on everybody let's get ffffff

All the Flower Children of Tomorrow are in the Seeds of Yesterday

I once had the opportunity to ask friends of my father’s if, given this generations near apathy towards the U.S. invasion of Iraq, they felt like they had failed.  They were a little bewildered by the question.  The successes of their generation later occurred to me.  While I’d wager that, war protest or not, most hippies were probably in it for the sex and drugs, even that behavior was in complete defiance of societal standards.  Even long hair was a statement against the establishment, and seeing large groups of people going against the establishment really gave a sense of something important happening.  I believe we weren’t as significantly rebellious a generation for two reasons.  The first being, despite very similar circumstances including the invasion of a small country and a secretive government over extending their power; there's no draft, so the war doesn't affect most people on a personal level.  They may be tapping our phones but it's a horrible thing that’s happening far, far away.  The second reason is that I think it’s much harder to rebel these days.  Granted, it’s much easier to spread a dissident word, but a funny haircut and t-shirt against the mann just isn’t as effective as it once was.  As soon as you can equip your rebel front with gear from the mall, I think you’re movement is in trouble.  I’m hoping our children find something truly radical to be a part of.  I honestly can’t think of anything I’d be really offended by, but maybe when my son is uploading his consciousness into a koala in protest to terrascaping Mars we can have a good old-fashion father & son/koala argument.
